Grinding Large Marine Engine Crankshafts
At Wulf Johannsen, we operate several conventional grinding machines capable of handling large-scale shafts. We grind your crankshafts up to a length of 6,200 mm (8,000 mm) and a swing diameter of 900 mm (1,750 mm).
Inspection and Incoming Quality Control
Even the smallest crack can cause significant damage. That’s why all shafts at Wulf Johannsen are thoroughly inspected using the Magnetoflux method. By magnetizing the component and applying a fluorescent liquid, even microscopic surface cracks become visible under ultraviolet light.
All work is certified and documented by classification societies.
Cylinder Head Repair
We carry out complete reconditioning of cylinder heads for marine engines at our facility in Kiel.
Before the overhaul, the cylinder heads in question are thoroughly inspected for cracks, leaks, or valve damage. Using cold gas spraying, we can also repair corrosion damage on sealing surfaces or within valve seats in a cost-efficient manner.
Through our IQ-Parts® service, we also supply spare parts worldwide, including valves, springs, and seals, as well as replacement or new cylinder heads.
Marine Pumps & Pump Components

As a sales and service partner of renowned pump manufacturers, we handle the maintenance, consulting, planning, and sales of pumps and their components.

Turbocharger Repair And Maintenance
Wulf Johannsen now offers on-site and in-house turbocharger repair and maintenance services.
Our turbocharger reconditioning process includes disassembly, thorough cleaning, and precise measurement of all components. Reusable parts are reassembled alongside new genuine replacement parts, strictly adhering to specified technical standards and guidelines. The process also includes dynamic balancing to ensure optimal performance.
In addition to reconditioning, we maintain a stock of various exchange turbochargers ready for immediate delivery. Through our IQ-PARTS® service, we also supply brand-new turbochargers – with global shipping available.
